Autoresponder

A confirmation email in your own words

Switch on the autoresponder and whoever submits your form gets a confirmation email straight away. You write the subject and message; placeholders fill in their name or anything else they typed.

Start free Read the docs 250 free submissions per month.

Your words, their details

Write a subject up to 150 characters and a message up to 2,000, in plain text or HTML. Drop in {field:name}, {field:email} or any field your form sends, plus {form_name} and {submitted_at}, and each email is filled in from the submission.

  • A live preview in the settings shows the email filled from your latest submission.

Replies go where you want

Choose the reply address: the same as your notifications, another linked email, or no reply at all. The visitor's reply lands with the right person.

Only to real people

The autoresponder needs the spam filter on, so bots don't get a reply, and each address gets at most one confirmation per form every 10 minutes. Your form can't be turned into a mail cannon.

How it works

Write the confirmation

Two fields in the form's Email settings, and a preview that updates as you type.

  1. 1

Make sure your form has an email field; the confirmation goes to it.

  2. 2

Switch on Autoresponder under the form's Email settings.

  3. 3

Write the subject and message. Use {field:name} and friends to personalise them.

  4. 4

Pick where replies go, save, and check the preview against your latest submission.

FAQ

Questions about autoresponder

Which field does the confirmation go to?

The one named email, or an alias such as email_address or your_email. Without an email field nothing is sent and the delivery is marked skipped.

Can I include what they wrote?

Yes. {field:message} puts in the message field, trimmed to one line. Any field your form posts works the same way.

Why does it need the spam filter on?

So a bot that posts a stranger's address doesn't get a reply from you. The filter keeps the confirmation for real submissions.
