Formwire vs Web3Forms: an honest comparison
For developers deciding between Web3Forms and Formwire, or switching from one to the other. Every Web3Forms fact below comes from their site, checked 14 October 2026.
Web3Forms is a form-to-email API built for static and JAMstack sites. You post to https://api.web3forms.com/submit with a public access key and the submission arrives in your inbox. It has a generous free plan, a dashboard with CSV export, and paid plans that add integrations, uploads and autoresponders.
Formwire is a form backend with the same one-line setup: point a form at https://formwire.io/submit with a
hidden access_key, and the submission is stored, emailed, checked for spam and sent to your webhooks.
| Plan | Web3Forms | Formwire |

What Web3Forms does well
- The same 250 free submissions a month as Formwire, with CSV export, a custom redirect, subject, from name and Reply-To all on the free plan.
- A nearly identical API shape to Formwire: one endpoint, a hidden access_key, extra fields forwarded as-is. Switching either way is one line.
- Thorough docs and examples for every framework, site builder and host, plus a Starter plan for students and non-profits at $49 a year.
Switching is one line
The two APIs share a shape. Change the address, paste your Formwire key into the same access_key field, and the rest of the form stays as it is.

When Web3Forms is the better choice
- You want a custom redirect, subject, from name and CSV export on a free plan and never expect to need webhooks or uploads.
- You're a student, startup or non-profit and can use their $49 a year Starter plan.
- You need white-label emails.
When Formwire is the better choice
- You want the read API, JSON export and an inbox with search without upgrading.
- You need signed webhooks with a delivery log, or an inbox with spam, archive and a trash you can restore from.
- Your limits should be soft. Web3Forms stops accepting submissions at the cap; Formwire keeps your forms working.
- You build with AI tools and want an MCP server and llms.txt.
Moving a form from Web3Forms
Four steps, in order. The form keeps working at every step.
- 1
Create a form in Formwire and copy its access key. Verify the address that should receive mail.
- 2
Change the action from https://api.web3forms.com/submit to https://formwire.io/submit and replace the access_key value. Keep your botcheck input if you have one; Formwire treats it as a honeypot too.
- 3
Keep the hidden subject, from_name, replyto and redirect fields as they are. Formwire ignores ccemail, so add those addresses as recipients in the dashboard.
- 4
Export your Web3Forms history to CSV, send a test submission, then delete the old key.
Is Formwire a drop-in Web3Forms alternative?
Nearly. Both post to one endpoint with a hidden access_key and forward every other field. Change the action, swap the key, and your inputs, subject and redirect fields work unchanged. ccemail is ignored; add CC recipients in the dashboard instead.
Which has the better free plan?
Both give 250 submissions a month with a 30-day history, CSV export and hCaptcha. Formwire adds the inbox with search and spam folders, JSON export and the read API.
What happens when I go over 250 submissions?
On Web3Forms, new submissions stop until the next month. On Formwire the limit is soft: the form keeps accepting and emailing submissions.
Do Web3Forms webhooks and Formwire webhooks behave the same?
Both retry failed deliveries. Formwire also signs every request so your endpoint can verify it, keeps a delivery log. Formwire webhooks come with Pro; Web3Forms webhooks start on the Starter plan.
